Physical Therapy

Physical Therapist today treat a wide variety of issues. This includes (but not  limited to) the following:

Tendon and muscle pain/sprains like tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, rotator cuff dysfunction/tears, neck and back strains, and IT Band syndrome

Nerve entrapment syndromes such as Carpal Tunnel, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, and Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, just to name a few.

Pain associated with arthritis, both Osteo and Rheumatoid.

Balance Deficits, associated with aging, Neurological Disease (Parkinsons, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, ALS, Stroke, and Diabetic Neuropathy).

Also as we age, there are many other factors that contribute to balance problems.

Vestibular Disorders, such as Benign Peroxismal Positional Vertigo or Meniere's Disease.

Spine dysfunctions associated with disc derangement, instabilities, scoliosis, and aging.

Post Operative rehab for all joints, such as shoulder, elbow, hand, hip, knee, ankle, spine, etc. We even treat individuals after surgeries involving cancerous tumor removals in order to improve the surrounding tissue and gain normal motion in the joints that are near.

Speech Therapy

Speech Therapists are largely underutilized by the general public because most don't truly know the extent of services they can provide. Here are a few examples of what they treat:

Phonological disorders such as apraxia (difficulty speaking/making sounds), articulation (difficulty with pronunciation), and dysarthria (slurred speech). People commonly associate speech therapy with these treatments.

Memory and Cognitive therapy associated with aging, traumatic brain injuries, dementia, stroke rehab, Parkinson, and any other neurologic disorder.

They perform in-house testing to find exactly what aspects of their mind are involved, uncover things that the patient may be doing to compensate for this loss of function, and help find ways for the family to better help and communicate with their loved ones. This is also an excellent way to determine whether your loved one is safe to live alone and how much assistance they really need.

Swallowing disorders associated with Neurological diseases listed above. Does you loved one cough or choke while eating, or takes more time to chew and swallow food? Has he or she been diagnosed with upper respiratory infections or Pneumonia more than once this year?
